JANUARY 2020

Happy New Year and welcome back!  We are looking forward to a fantastic 2020 with you and your families.

  • CONGRATULATIONS to all our students for outstanding performances last month at our Student Recitals, Music Box and Pathways presentations, and our Holiday Concert!
  • GOODBYES and thanks were said to our beloved Mike Bastian and Susan Ogren, as they have begun a new chapter in their lives in Galena, Illinois. Mike and Susan have taught at The Music School for over 18 years, and will be missed by us all.  You will likely see them back for frequent visits, as Susan intends to come back and continue supporting our students by painting for our musical productions!
  • WELCOME to our new teachers Peter Wallack, Niles Flynn, and Adam Lee, who have started teaching drums and classes this week. It is wonderful to have such talented, enthusiastic musicians joining our staff!
  • MUSIC SCHOOL APPAREL is available for purchase – visit this link: https://business.landsend.com/store/themusicschool/
  • UPCOMING HOLIDAYS – We are closed for lessons and classes on January 20th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as well as February 17th for President’s Day. We are open for lessons and classes February 18th – 22nd.
  • TEDDY BEAR CONCERT Saturday January 25, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary. Children, families, and all who are young at heart are invited to bring their bears and attend our annual Teddy Bear concert.  Faculty performers from The Music School will present a program planned especially for young listeners, which will include classical literature, folk music, and children’s music featuring singing and instruments. This is a great introduction to a variety of instruments!  Proceeds from this concert benefit the Jan Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Suggested Donation: $5 individual, $10 family.
  • SPRING MUSICAL preparations will begin this month in our Adventures and Kaleidoscope classes. Make sure you get the information packet from your teachers this week, and plan on attending a parent meeting in the last 20 minutes of class next week 1/13 – 1/18. It’s not too late for your friends to sign up but we are nearly full, so anybody interested should enroll right away!
